What you hope to achieve as an SLE:

As an SLE I hope to be able to share my expertise with others. There is a wealth of low effort literacy strategies and ideas out there that will have a significant impact on the progress of our students. I want to work alongside colleagues to help them unpick what can often be seen as quite a daunting concept, especially if you’re not an English teacher. I want to support colleagues to take an interest in whole school literacy and how this can improve their quality of teaching and to also foster an environment of collaboration of sharing and support.

Specific areas of expertise, and how you might be able to help other school:

Literacy – supporting students with high quality extended writing

Reading interventions

Rebuilding a valued school library

Revision skills

Quick literacy wins – starters, mini reviews and plenaries

Interactive displays to support students with their literacy

Stretch and challenge activities to develop quality of student literacy

Future career goals:

I want to progress to senior leadership during my teaching career. My passion is in teaching and learning and the impact this has on student outcomes and the quality of teaching. I want to support trainee and new teachers to become the best teachers they can be to motivate and inspire our younger generations.
