Applications for training to teach with Astra from September 2026 open soon!*

• From 9.00am on Tuesday, 30 September applicants can read information about courses starting in September 2026 on Find, the official source of information on teacher training.

• From 9.00am on Tuesday, 7 October applications open on Apply, the portal (a bit like UCAS) through which applications to teacher training are made.

We have a number of information events coming up and we'd love to meet you and share more about our vision for teacher training and the different routes Astra offers. We offer both primary training for ages 5 to 11 and the full range of secondary subjects for ages 11 to 18.

Each year Astra welcomes on to its courses both new and recent graduates and career changers. For many secondary subjects, bursaries are available; details of these for 2026-2027 will be announced by the Department for Education in the autumn.

We always have lots of interest in apprenticeships and salaried positions. If these are of interest, be aware that they are normally available only to those already working in a school setting.
