The Astra team was kept busy all day on Saturday 7 November welcoming so many people at the Get Into Teaching event for London and the South East.

Held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, a short walk from Marylebone Station, our team we were able to talk with a large number of potential applicants living in the Astra area of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Hillingdon and looking to train locally on a school-based route.

If you missed Saturday's event, we'd love to meet you at one of our forthcoming Open Events at Aylesbury Grammar School on 3 December and Dr Challoner's Grammar School on 27 February. Both events are open to all, and will cover both primary and secondary phases.

The streets of London are, so the fairy tale goes, not paved with gold - but there are still generous bursaries for applicants in a number of shortage subjects in the secondary phase. In the primary phase and subjects without bursaries, trainees are eligible to apply for Student Loan Company finance to cover tuition fees and an element of living expenses. Further information on financing training is here.

Astra is currently accepting applications for all courses commencing in September 2026. Early application is always encouraged; early applicants are more likely to be offered in a placement school of their choice. Details of how to apply to Astra are here.  Do read our entry criteria carefully and get in touch with Thahera Konkader, our Recruitment and Compliance Manager, if you would like to discuss further any aspect of applying.
